Havana, Nov 24 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel attended a cultural gala at the stairs of the University of Havana on Wednesday, which paid homage to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on the fifth anniversary of his passing.
University students and professors, local government authorities, youth leaders, members of grass-roots organizations and many young people attended the cultural event, which included renowned musicians and dance ensembles.
Young Communist League leader Aylin Garcia addressed the crowed sitting on the stairs of the historic university to reiterate the Cuban young people’s determination to defend and follow the legacy of the Revolution leader.
She said that all these years without Fidel have allowed the young people to fully understand that death is not true when you have fully met your life commitment.
The audience enjoyed symbolic songs composed by outstanding Cuban musicians and accompanied their lyrics under a persistent drizzle.
