Havana, Oct 18 (ACN) Cuban students throughout the island have continued to progressively return to their classrooms since the October 4 in-person resumption of the 2020-2021 school year, always depending on the control of the COVID-19 disease in each territory.
In the central province of Sancti Spiritus, twelve graders and pedagogical school students went back to school on Monday, as they concluded their vaccination programs. Students in all other education levels will follow the first groups.
Provincial vice-director of Education Morbelys Cuellar told ACN that local schools did not open on October 4 due to the high level of COVID-19 prevalence, but the scenario is now different.
Meanwhile, in the eastern province of Granma, preparations are in full swing to have the students back to school by November 15.
A major task here is the rehabilitation of school facilities which served as isolation centers for COVID-19 patients, said education official Francisco Selema in statements to the local Radio Bayamo radio station.
On November 15, all students in eastern Granma province will join the over-one-million Cuban children who will attend school to close the 2020-2021 school year.
