University in central Cuba maintains cooperation agreements with foreign counterparts

CIENFUEGOS, Sep 6 (ACN) The Carlos Rafael Rodriguez University (UCF), in the province of Cienfuegos, has signed more than 130 cooperation agreements with several of its counterparts abroad that cover research and postgraduate programs, academic exchanges and student mobility.

In statements to the ACN, UCF rector Orquídea Urquiola Sánchez explained that these alliances bring together the interests of the parties to take advantage of their distinctive capacities and competencies to cooperate and build bridges to improve the quality of the teaching process.

“We also seek to create mechanisms for equal access to higher education and provide opportunities to join training programs such as master's degrees, doctorates and post-doctorates in first-world countries and elsewhere,” she added. “Our goals are always focused on the education of socially responsible citizens committed to sustainable development.”

These bonds are mostly aimed at improving access to technologies, getting funds to carry out joint research projects, and participating in international networks, events and publications. The said contracts make it possible to learn best practices in the fields of academia, research, university extension and management, while increasing the international visibility of the UCF and raising its place in world rankings.

Established more than 40 years ago, the UCF consolidates its agreements with universities in some thirty countries, among them the University of Applied Forestry Sciences of Rottenburg am Neckar (Germany), Autónoma del Carmen (Mexico), Tecnológica Nacional (Argentina), Metropolitana (Ecuador), the University of International Studies of Hebei (People's Republic of China) and the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain).
