HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 16 (ACN) The Cuban Academy of Sciences (ACC by its Spanish acronym) also reaffirmed its support to the letter of Cuban scientists in response to U.S. President Joe Biden, for his misleading statements on the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
The document is addressed to scientists, professionals, technicians of the sector, professors, Cubans and foreigners, who considered as right the claim against what was expressed by Biden last July 15 in relation to the alleged national incapacity to face the Sars-CoV-2 virus that causes the contagious disease.
More than 4,400 people had signed the letter of Cuban scientists, which has the support of doctors, health workers, academics, intellectuals and prominent personalities of the world.
The U.S. president publicly referred to the case on July 15, when he disqualified Cuba's capacity to confront COVID-19.
However, in the face of such a misinformed pronunciation, aimed at distorting reality, a broad representation of the Cuban and international population decided to respond with its evident results in health and specifically on the virus of concern.
Immunization has been part of the Public Health system in this country since 1962 and not a single case of measles has been registered in the last decades, just to quote an example; regarding COVID-19, the process continues with its own vaccine products.
UNESCO recognized Cuba for its progress in the application of science and its development in a recent report in which it reflected the severe impact of the U.S. blockade on the sector.
