HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 3 (ACN) Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel highlighted on Tuesday on Twitter the government's actions to control the COVID-19 in the Cuban central province of Ciego de Avila, that is having the worst numbers of COVID cases on the island .
The president said that a team led by the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal, Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, and the member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCC, Félix Duarte Ortega, is taking new measures to contain the disease in that territory in the center of the country.
While Matanzas is steadily controlling the epidemic, the most complex situation is moving to Ciego de Avila, Diaz-Canel wrote, and announced that he had instructed the Minister of Health to immediately submit a proposal to reinforce care in the province.
This action plan, said the head of state, should prioritize the increase in the availability of doctors and nurses, one of the most sensitive problems in the territory.
May solidarity among our people continue to be the flag that guides this fight, added the president in one of his messages.
He also said that this Monday afternoon, as in every day for more than a year, authorities of the Party and the Government checked the national epidemiological situation, with emphasis on the coverage of medicines and oxygen.
According to the President, the combination of the national industry, imports and donations, the Caribbean nation is overcoming these difficult moments.
"Much remains to be done and we cannot allow mistakes. Our health personnel, who have been in the front line for more than a year, cannot slacken now and we must continue to support them. I ask our people for responsibility," Díaz-Canel emphasized.
The province of Ciego de Avila presents a complex situation in the control of COVID-19, with a growing number of positive cases reported in recent days.
