Cuba denounces spread of fake news on CNN en español TV cannel

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 20 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban foreign minister, denounced today on Twitter the broadcasting of fake news about the Caribbean nation on the television channel CNN en Espanol.

The Cuban diplomat stressed in his message that the use of images out of context in order to convey instability in Cuba violates the principles of journalism, while making them a tool of the campaign of hatred and disinformation against the island.

This July 13, in a press conference with foreign correspondents and the national press, Rodriguez Parrilla condemned the communicational and political campaign promoted by the United States with destabilizing purposes.

During his speech, the foreign minister said that the isolated protests of Sunday July 11 took opportunistic advantage of the tension in the health system and the shortages caused by the economic situation, aggravated in the last two years by the tightening of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade.

Washington has dedicated hundreds of millions of dollars to meddle in the internal affairs of the Caribbean nation and uselessly foster a political opposition to generate disorder and instability, break the constitutional order and the conditions of harmony in which the people live, the Cuban official said.

To this end, he added, it has used high-tech tools, taking advantage of the harsh social conditions that the pandemic has generated on the planet and making a shameless, obscene and indecent use of data manipulation.

The diplomat informed that since June 23, the date on which Cuba won an overwhelming victory at the United Nations by demanding an end to the hostile policy, a large-scale communication campaign has been launched with the aim of encouraging social chaos, disorder and violence, resources that have been used in other countries with disastrous consequences.

We demand an end to the manipulation, discrimination and attempts to encourage an irregular migratory flow, which violates international agreements in this regard, Rodriguez Parrilla concluded.
