HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 5 (ACN) The Business Forum between Cuba and Germany "Possibilities of Cooperation in the Biotechnological and Biopharmaceutical Sector" will take place virtually on April 14, due to restrictions imposed by COVID-19.
Organized by the Cuban chamber of commerce and the German office for the promotion of trade and investment in Cuba, the event will include the participation of Cuban companies and institutions in these sectors, with the aim of promoting cooperation between the two countries.
According to the website of the Cuban ministry of foreign trade and investment, executives from Cuba's Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Business Group, the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, the Finlay Institute of Vaccines and the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices will participate in the event.
As part of bilateral ties, in early 2021 Cuba and Germany held Inter-foreign ministries political consultations, headed by Emilio Lozada, director general of Bilateral Affairs of the Cuban foreign ministry, and Marian Schuegraf, director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the European nation's federal foreign ministry.
In addition, in 2019, Cuban authorities approved the installation of the first German firm in the Mariel Special Development Zone, located in the province of Artemisa, which will produce and assemble industrial valves, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as dynamic equipment and its components.
