HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 31 (ACN) Marino Murillo Jorge, member of the Political Bureau and head of the Commission for the Implementation of the Guidelines, on Tuesday updated figures on social assistance, within the framework of the monetary order.
Currently, more than 145,600 families are protected by social assistance; of them, some 132,300 receive monetary benefits, the rest receive services and resources. In Socialist Cuba no one will be left behind, Murillo Jorge tweeted.
The determination not to leave anyone behind has been constant in the analysis and readjustments of the monetary order, a process that eliminates monetary and exchange duality, undue gratuities and excessive subsidies, which requires new costs of products and services.
The Cuban authorities have taken decisions to protect vulnerable people and have revised and readjusted the prices of electricity, liquefied gas, medicines, and family care canteens, among others.
In addition, measures have been adopted to control the prices of agricultural products.
The monetary order, in force as of January 1, 2021, seeks to stimulate the economy and promote labor as the main source of wealth.
