Cuba and China ratify their interest in strengthening bilateral relations



HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 17 (ACN) The Cuban ambassador to China Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernandez and the director general of the Department of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Foreign Ministry in Beijing, Cai Wei, ratified the interest in strengthening bilateral relations, based on the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries.

During the meeting, the diplomats also exchanged on the current state of bilateral ties, Cubaminrex reported.

Pereira Hernandez highlighted the strength of the ties between Cuba and the People’s Republic at political, economic and commercial level and thanked the Chinese Foreign Ministry for its support in the consolidation of diplomatic relations.

He also ratified Cuba's unwavering commitment to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China and oppose any interference by foreign powers in the internal affairs of the Asian country.

On his end, the Chinese diplomat thanked Havana for its support in diplomatic issues related to Hong Kong and Xinjiang, and recalled the Cuban Foreign Minister's message on his official Twitter account in support of the "one China" principle.

Wei confirmed the will to continue developing strategic ties with Cuba, reiterated his country’s rejection of the U.S. blockade, and stated China’s opposition to foreign interference in the internal affairs of other countries
