Cuba contributes to the recovery of beaches in Latin America and the Caribbean

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 3 (ACN) The Cuban company Inversiones Gamma S.A. is taking on new projects for the recovery of beaches in Latin America and the Caribbean as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic allows it.

DSc. Ernesto Tristá Barrera, director of the entity’s Coastal Engineering Marketing Division, told ACN that they have signed two highly profitable contracts with the Association of Caribbean States to work in Central America, namely with the Climate Change Center of Belize to improve the conditions of two coastal areas and to rehabilitate beaches in Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, and Panama.

Attached to the Innomax Business Group of the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment (CITMA), the company has worked successfully with tourist and environmental enterprises in the Dominican Republic in 2006 and 2010 and in the Palisadoes Peninsula in Jamaica. It has also provided consultancy services to the Mexican Federal Electricity Commission for a project in Cancun and carried out other tasks in El Salvador.

Along with the actions against the erosion of these coastal systems, Inversiones Gamma S.A. promotes strategies for affected areas in Cuba and cooperates with universities and research centers across Cuba. The company has planned its activity up to 2030, covering the national priorities of the Ministry of Tourism and major beach-protection projects liked to Task “Vida” (Life), a State plan designed to tackle climate change.
