Cuban Expert: No Scientific Evidence Proves Havana Syndrome Theory

Havana, Feb 16 (ACN) The director of the Cuban Neuroscience Center, Mitchel Valdes Sosa said on Tuesday that corporate media reports on an alleged Havana syndrome are not backed by any scientific evidence.

Valdes Sosa, who is the coordinator of a Cuban expert team on the incident of US diplomats, said that they first launched this idea about a large number of people who got sick in Havana and simultaneously showed symptoms and cerebral damage, and this followed the accusation that such symptoms were due to the action of a mysterious sonic, ultra-sonic or microwave weapon.

During the prime-time TV show “The Round Table” the expert referred to the difficult access to information since the Cuban team could not see any US diplomat or study any details of their clinical records. The only documents available to the Cubans was an article posted on the JAMA magazine and the reports by a panel of US scientific academies who pointed to the probe by the State Department, as well as studies by the Center for Disease Control and the National Health Institute, this latter one unpublished.

Based on those investigations you can conclude that the idea that a large group of people showed the same symptoms is discarded because there is no evidence that back such idea; the next element is the brain damage which was not backed by audio-metric tests which were negative to that damage. Other neurologic tests were put on doubt for being incomplete.

The expert added that there’s been much talk about a possible weapon based on some kind of energy and he explained that while such artifacts do exist, they are too big and leave evidence like burns on the human body or damage on the target environment and such evidence was never found.
He said that his team had a single official exchange with State Department physicians who were not able to reject the arguments stated forth by the Cubans. Valdes Sosa said that there is a secret report however which refers to the National Health Institute having asserted that 20 percent of the patients show functional neurological symptom pointing to a disease, but with strong psychological background.
