Cuba reiterates willingness to clarify alleged acoustic incidents in US embassy in Havana

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 12 (ACN) Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla called on Twitter today for a serious declassification of information on the alleged health incidents of U.S. diplomats on the island and reiterated the country's willingness to cooperate to find a solution to the matter.

Referring to the recent announcement by the US State Department on the irregularities of the US administration in dismantling the embassy in Havana, Rodriguez Parrilla said that it will be possible to know how far Trump, Pompeo and Marco Rubio had gone to artificially justify a setback in bilateral relations.

At the same time, Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez also commented on the matter on Twitter and stressed that Cuba, supported by science, had already said before what the report now reveals about the pretexts used by the United States to damage bilateral relations.

The newly declassified secret report states that the dismantling of the U.S. embassy to Havana in early 2018, in reaction to alleged sonic attacks against diplomatic personnel, was a political response plagued by mismanagement, lack of coordination and procedural non-compliance.
The document's executive summary states, the decision was characterized by a lack of senior leadership, ineffective communications and systemic disorganization.

Eighteen months after the events, the internal State Department document indicates that it was not known what happened or why, or who did it, however, it was used as justification for reducing more than 60 percent of the diplomatic staff and closing the U.S. consulate.
