HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 29 (ACN) Cuban foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, highlighted today on Twitter the Cuban medical cooperation reinforced during the COVID-19 pandemic to assist nations in need.
According to the foreign minister, Cuban international collaboration has responded to Marti's principle of brotherhood among nations, and added that based on the humanist and solidarity feeling, Cuban health personnel save lives.
Some 26 brigades belonging to the Henry Reeve medical contingent are working in some twenty countries, where they have treated more than 26,000 COVID-19 patients, and have saved the lives of more than 976 people affected by the pandemic.
For their global response to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, international organizations nominated this contingent, created in 2005 by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, for the Nobel Peace Prize.
