HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 6 (ACN) Cuban minister of higher education, Jose Ramon Saborido Loidi, congratulated the professors, workers and students of the University of Havana (UH) on the 293rd anniversary of that institution, the oldest in the country.
On Twitter, the minister called the institution a university of excellence and an international reference.
Also, the Cuban minister of science, technology and environment, Elba Rosa Perez Montoya, also highlighted the 293rd anniversary of the UH, stressing the excellence of the academic center.
The University of Havana was founded on January 5, 1728, in the convent of San Juan de Letran, by Dominican friars of the Order of Preachers.
The center was recently included in the top 500 of the World University Ranking, an evaluation method that gathers the 1,000 best institutions of higher education.
Within its infrastructure there are 16 faculties, four institutes, three science, technology and innovation entities and seven study centers not associated with faculties.
