Cuba attends ICAO virtual meeting

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 29 (ACN) Cuba is present at the virtual meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which focuses its debate on the recovery of civil aviation in the North, Central America and the Caribbean nations.

According to the Cuban Ministry of Transportation, Ministers of Transport, Health and Tourism and General Directors and civil aviation authorities attend the meeting, with the aim of joining forces to gradually resume air activity at international level, one of the sectors most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cuban delegation is headed by the Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodriguez; Health, José Ángel Portal, and Tourism, Juan Carlos Garcia.
COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the aviation industry due to travel restrictions as well as reduced demand for flights, the Airports Council International (ACI) recently noted on the official website of the United Nations.
According to the fourth report of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), a reduction in income of 55 percent is estimated globally for the end of 2020, only in tickets sale.
The ICAO is an agency of the United Nations founded on December 7, 1944, with headquarters in Montreal, Canada, by the Convention on International Civil Aviation, to study the problems of international civil aviation and promote regulations and unique standards in global aeronautics.
