HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 27 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez assured today on Twitter that the essence of the legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro will be honored with the entry into force in 2021 of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).
The Cuban FM recalled Fidel's committed work for years in terms of nuclear disarmament and the use of that energy source only for peaceful purposes and for the development of the peoples.
¨With the entry into force on January 22, 2021, of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, the humanist thinking of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, a tireless fighter for nuclear disarmament, is honored. These weapons are inhumane, immoral, ethically indefensible and illegal, ¨Rodriguez tweeted.
The United Nations Organization announced last Saturday night that the TPNW will enter into force on January 22, 2021, 90 days after the ratification of its text by the government of Honduras, the 50th state in doing it.
This is the culmination of a "global movement to draw attention to the catastrophic consequences of any use of nuclear weapons," said Antonio Guterres, secretary general of this international body in a statement through his spokesman.
