HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 26 (ACN) Omar L. Marrero Betancourt, Cuban ambassador to the government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, chaired this weekend the 10th professional scientific conference held in the district of Covalima.
As highlighted Monday on Cuba's foreign ministry website, Cubaminrex, the scientific meeting held under the topic "For a sustainable development in medical training, welfare work and research", served to confirm the high scientific level of the works presented, focusing research on health issues that specifically affect local populations.
It also highlighted the research effort of its authors (Timorese and Cuban doctors who provide services in the hospital of Suai, capital of Covalima), and urged them to continue carrying out scientific research of quality and interest for the Timorese national health system.
The head of the Cuban medical brigade, Dr. Juan Carlos Chavez Godoy, Dr. Rosa Duconger Castellano, director of the medical school of the national university of Timor-Leste and the director of the hospital Referal de Suai, Jose Muniz, were also present at the event.
