HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 14 (ACN) Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, Cuban foreign trade and foreign investment minister, called Wednesday a useful virtual meeting he held with Luis Lopez Calva, regional director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Maribel Gutierrez, the agency's resident representative in Cuba.
The Cuban minister said on Twitter that they talked about international cooperation and discussed how Cuba will continue actively contributing from its position as a member of the Executive Board of that organization.
According to UNDP's official website in Cuba, they work in close partnership with local and national authorities to foster the sustainable development of the nation.
This work is taking place in a context where food security, decentralization, energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies aim at an economy with greater export and import substitution capacities, in order to preserve the well-being of the people.
We are accompanying the country in its process of updating the development model with a view to achieving the National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030 and the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development," Cuba's UNDP stressed.
We are also promoting a more dynamic and competitive economy, the preservation of social achievements and levels of equity, incorporating ways to make them foster the sustainability of natural resources, the use of renewable energies, and resilience in the face of climate change and natural disasters, it concluded.
