HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 9 (ACN) Activists and members of the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP) highlighted the validity of Ernesto ¨Che¨ Guevara's thought during a tribute to 53 years after his capture and assassination.
During the virtual meeting, ICAP president Fernando Gonzalez said that the Argentine guerrilla is a paradigm for those who call for a better world in the current context of neoliberal policies and social inequalities.
'Che was a revolutionary who acted according to his thoughts and words, who dedicated and gave his life to the cause of the liberation of the peoples in the fight against imperialism,' he emphasized.
Gonzalez, who is also Hero of the Republic of Cuba, assured that beyond his actions as a guerrilla, Che stands out as a man of doctrine who contributed essential principles on the revolutionary path.
'The crime committed 53 years ago could not break his spirit or overshadow his legacy, it is a symbol, a strength, a presence that can never be destroyed,' he commented.
According to Gonzalez, Guevara's ideals also influence the solidarity vocation of Cuba, a nation that has sent 52 medical brigades to 39 countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America and the Caribbean to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
