Western Cuba on alert for hurricane Delta

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 6 (ACN) The Cuban National Civil Defense Staff decided to establish the Hurricane Alert Phase for the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Artemisa and the Special Municipality Isle of Youth from 08:00 hours due to the proximity of Hurricane Delta to the national territory.

According to the information of the forecasting center of the Institute of Meteorology, there are favorable conditions for the rapid strengthening of Delta hurricane on the seas in the south of the western region of Cuba, so there will be effects due to rains since morning in the Isle of Youth, extending to the rest of the western region during the day.
The rest of the western region provinces should keep themselves informed, paying attention to its evolution and future trajectory.
The bodies, state agencies, social institutions and economic entities in the territories in Hurricane Alert Phase must assess the particular situation and comply with the measures foreseen in their respective disaster risk reduction plans in a rational manner, as well as the actions foreseen in the Prevention and Control Plan of the novel coronavirus.
The population is instructed to be attentive to the information of the Institute of Meteorology and Civil Defense, and to comply with the measures indicated by the local authorities in a disciplined manner.
