HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 5 (ACN) Alexander Pellicer, Cuban ambassador to Lebanon, reiterated his country's complaint about the silence of the United States after the attack on the diplomatic headquarters of Havana in Washington last April 30.
The diplomat affirmed that the position of President Donald Trump contradicts his rhetoric regarding the fight against terrorism, reported Cubaminrex website.
In a message to the Al-Mayadeen TV channel, Pellicer said that five months have passed since that act and the United States government continues to be an accomplice of silence about this dangerous incident.
He noted that refraining from publicly condemning the attack on the embassy shows the extent of Trump administration's leniency and manipulation in the face of incitement, violence and hostility from politicians and extremist groups hostile to Cuba.
The ambassador explained that the Caribbean island condemned this event from the first moment, describing it as a "terrorist act with the intention of killing", a direct result of the aggressive policy practiced against Cuba for decades.
Despite this, the US authorities were reluctant to classify the incident as such, as evidenced by the charges against the aggressor, which did not include any description of what he had done that would qualify it as a terrorist act.
The attack on the embassy indicates a history of state terrorism against Cuba and the stability of violent groups within its territory with impunity, he stressed.
According to Pellicer, the US government must recognize the terrorist nature of said attack and share information about it with Cuba; not doing it amounts to complicit silence and tolerance of terrorism.
