Russian FM to hold official meeting with Cuban Deputy PM


HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 24 (ACN) Russia's Foreign Ministry announced a meeting next Monday between its Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov and Cuba's Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas to examine the deepening of ties and issues on the global agenda.

During the aforementioned encounter, the strengthening of the strategic partnership between both countries in the political, economic-commercial and cultural-humanitarian areas will be analyzed, highlighted the spokeswoman of the aforementioned Russian agency, Maria Zajarova.

Similarly, the coordination of efforts in the international arena will be addressed, including 'the fight against illegitimate pressure through US sanctions against Cuba,' Zajarova noted.

Cabrisas, who chairs a Cuban delegation visiting Russia, also spoke with the president of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Gennady Zyuganov, and with Ivan Melnikov, first vice president of the State Duma.

During the cordial and warm meeting, the authorities of both countries exchanged about the current international economic crisis that affects the whole planet, aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic, sources from the Cuban embassy in this nation stated.

Cuba's deputy prime minister updated on the complex situation his country is going through, where, in addition to the effects of the pandemic, the tightening of the US unfair economic, commercial and financial blockade without precedents.

Both sides highlighted the solidarity and friendship that unite the peoples and governments of Cuba and Russia, so necessary in these Covid-19 times, the source stood out.
