Cuban Government checks Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Program

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 23 (ACN) During its daily meeting in times of COVID-19, the Cuban Government's temporary working group, headed by President Miguel Diaz-Canel, checked the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Program in the country.

This was made known through his Twitter account by Manuel Marrero, Prime Minister of Cuba, who pointed out that this analysis is done in the context of the ¨Tarea Vida¨ (Life Task), a Cuban plan against climate change.
We checked the "Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security" Program, in the context of the Life Task, which should continue to be consolidated in correspondence with the new economic, environmental, social and climatic scenarios, Marrero tweeted.
In this regard, Diaz-Canel emphasized that investments, the development of new technologies, innovation, nutritional culture and the transformation of ways of management, as well as reduction of food importation into the country are right now being promoted.
The development of the local agricultural sector depending on the needs of each community is one of the main centers of attention of Cuba´s National Plan for Food Sovereignty and Nutritional Education, designed with the support of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Likewise, the Cuban Government implements projects and investments to combat the consequences of climate change in agriculture and guarantee national self-sufficiency.
