HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 21 (ACN) Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez will speak online Monday at the high-level event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, just when the multilateral organization is facing major challenges in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The minister of foreign affairs of the Caribbean nation will reaffirm the commitment with the principles of the International Law, the strengthening of the multilateralism and the international cooperation, according to a statement of the Cuban mission at the UN.
As part of Cuba's participation in the high-level segment of the 75th session of the General Assembly, Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel is scheduled to speak tomorrow.
For the first time in its history, the Assembly's general debate - September 22 to 29 - will be held virtually, without the presence of hundreds of high-level dignitaries and other delegations at New York headquarters, due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
