Cuban FM: “We will continue defending multilateralism and democracy”

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 17 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez affirmed that his country will continue defending multilateralism and the construction of a democratic order, through its participation in the United Nations (UN).

On his Twitter account, Rodriguez referred to Cuba's participation in the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, where they will support the principles of International Law and the UN role in the construction of a just and equitable order.

The UN General Assembly opened sessions virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which is a challenge for all peoples globally, due to its impact on health, the economy and the social sphere.

Precisely, this will be one of the main issues of the debate, after the resolution 'Comprehensive and coordinated response to the Covid-19 pandemic' was approved on Friday, September 11.

Originally, the theme would be 'The Future We Want, the United Nations We Need: Reaffirming our Collective Commitment to Multilateralism', to which we added 'facing Covid-19 through an effective multilateral action', given the situation the planet lives.

Yesterday's session held a commemorative event for the International Day of Democracy, which this time highlights the need to promote a sustainable response to the current crisis, based on multilateralism and rule of law.
