US imposition of Inter-American Development Bank candidate is an offense to our nations, Cuban FM says

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 14 (ACN) Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez referred on Sunday to the imposition by the United States of a candidate to head the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) as an offensive for Latin America and the Caribbean.

It is difficult to find someone less indicated, said Rodriguez when referring -without mentioning- to Mauricio Clever-Carone, who became on Saturday the president of the hemispheric financial entity in substitution of the Colombian Luis Alberto Moreno, a fact to be made effective on October 1st.
Cuban diplomat assured that the presence of the Cuban-American will divide the region trying to impose an agenda of domination and the Monroe Doctrine.
Although it is not written, since its foundation 61 years ago the institution elected a Latin American as president and a North American as vice president.
According to Prensa Latina, the nomination by U.S. President Donald Trump of his special advisor for Latin America broke the tradition in that bank, whose financial assistance would be a key element in trying to overcome the post-pandemic crisis in Latin America.
