HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 1 (ACN) The Cuba-Santa Lucia Solidarity Humanistic Association held its annual meeting this weekend, which was dedicated to the 41st anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between both countries and the 15th anniversary of this organization.
The meeting was held in Castries, and was chaired by Marlene Alexander, president of the Association, and Alejandro Simancas, Cuban ambassador in Saint Lucia, according to the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It was also attended by Dame Pearlette Louisy, former governor-general of Saint Lucia, as well as members of the Executive Committee of the Association, representatives of the Association of graduates in Cuba, Cuban residents and members of the Cuban medical mission and the Henry Reeve Brigade.
Alexander reaffirmed the position of solidarity and support for Cuba on the occasion of this new anniversary of bilateral relations.
She expressed her gratitude and recognition for the medical cooperation provided by Cuba, especially in the fight against COVID-1919 and announced the launch of a campaign to support the nomination of the Henry Reeve Brigade for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Similarly, during the meeting, a letter from Noemi Rabaza, first vice president of the Cuban Friendship Institute, was read, in which she congratulated Alexander on the anniversary of the Association and reiterated the will to continue strengthening the ties of brotherhood and solidarity.
The Cuban Ambassador conveyed congratulations on the anniversary of bilateral relations and the founding of the Solidarity Humanistic Association and expressed Cuba's will to continue strengthening relations of solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the governments and peoples of both countries.
The collaborator Gloria Ayala spoke on behalf of the Henry Reeve Brigade, and explained the history of solidarity displayed by the brigade in the last 15 years, also detailed the work they do in Santa Lucia, where they arrived last March 27 to support the confrontation with the Covid 19 pandemic.
