HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 18 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez, Cuba´s Minister of Foreign Affairs, said today on Twitter that United States intend to obstruct the aspiration of the countries of the Latin America and the Caribbean to peacefully interact.
"In 2014, all the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean signed our Proclamation as a Peace Zone. The regional policy of the US government has sabotaged this genuine aspiration of our peoples," Rodriguez tweeted.
During the celebration of the 2nd Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), held in Havana six years ago, the 30 heads of state of the bloc signed the proclamation.
With it, the 33 member states of the integration body expressed their rejection to the use of force to solve regional disputes, a transcendental agreement in a context where several of the countries of the bloc maintained border disputes.
CELAC was created on February 23, 2010, by 33 Latin American and Caribbean States under the principles of dialogue, political agreement and the establishment of an articulating mechanism to work at all times on the basis of consensus.
Since its inception, CELAC has advocated for the better functioning of relations between nations, seriously affected by the imperialist wars unleashed by the United States.
