Supreme Court to introduce five new draft laws in Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 13 (ACN) The Supreme Court of the Republic of Cuba will submit five new bills on Criminal Procedure, People's Courts, Protection of Constitutional Rights, Administrative Procedures and the Code of Procedures for Civil, Commercial, Labor, Social Security and Family matters

As one of the main duties of the country, the People's Supreme Court has the task of presenting these draft laws to the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) during this year, according to Granma newspaper.

Regarding criminal procedure, the new law will respond to Article 99 of the Constitution of the Republic, which recognizes the right of individuals to claim in court the restitution of their rights and to obtain the corresponding reparation or compensation.

The Procedural Code and the Law of Administrative Procedure will take into account the more active participation of judges in establishing the truth of the facts, better use of oral proceedings in judicial acts and the elimination of unnecessary formalities, as well as greater speed in proceedings and greater protection for vulnerable persons.
To guarantee the enforcement of sentences, personal and economic orders are also introduced, one of the points on which the population frequently pronounces itself in these issues.

Concerning administrative matters, the principles contained in the current law require a different formulation, since the current procedure is not sufficiently effective nor does it guarantee a good defense, not only of the private interest but also of the public one.
