Santiago de Cuba pays homage to Fidel on his 94th birthday

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Aug 13 (ACN) Family members and friends from Santiago de Cuba arrived at the Santa Ifigenia Heritage Cemetery, where the remains of Fidel Castro Ruz are kept, to pay homage to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution on his 94th birthday.

The ceremony, led by the political and governmental authorities of the territory, included the laying of floral bouquets in honor of the man who dignified the lives of Cubans after January 1, 1959.
Annia Poblador Serguera, secretary of the Jose Marti CPC district committee, told Cuban News Agency that words are not enough to define or describe Fidel's significance for Cuba and the world.
Perhaps his parents never imagined how great and transcendent that child born in Biran who radiated light to all peoples close to the revolutionary cause would be, he said.
According to Poblador Serguera, Fidel represents dignity for young people, Cubans and above all women, whom he placed in an uppermost position and who recognized his mark in the struggle for national liberation.
Likewise, he insisted on the need to be faithful to his ideas and principles of solidarity, equality and internationalism, just as the nation does with the world in such complex moments due to the health crisis generated by the SARS-Cov-2 virus.
We are Continuity does not become a slogan, we must be consistent with his legacy, act, in the difficult circumstances of today, as he would have done, he concluded.
