HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 25 (ACN) US unilateralism threatens the development and protection of human rights for people around the world, Cuban FM Bruno Rodriguez said today.
Rodriguez stressed through social media that the American unconventional wars and their violations of international law systematically violate the rights to peace and self-determination.
The Cuban diplomat is in Geneva attending the high level segment of the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council.
There, he denounced the impact of the tightening of the economic, political and financial blockade by the United States Government, which hinders the Cuban people from fully enjoying the human rights established in the UN Charter.
He also met today with the UN high commissioner for human rights, Michelle Bachelet, stressing Cuba's commitment to the protection and promotion of all human rights and affirming that the US blockade is a violation of the Cuban people human rights.
The Human Rights Council is an intergovernmental body within the United Nations system, composed of 47 States responsible for the protection and promotion of all human rights worldwide.
