HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 20 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel arrived this Sunday morning in Ireland for a two-day official visit, the first by a sitting Cuban president in history.
In the first stop of his European tour, Diaz-Canel will hold talks with Irish President Michael D. Higgins, Prime Minister Leo Varadkar and other authorities.
Through his Twitter account, Diaz-Canel thanked for the warm welcome at the airport and assured that her visit will strengthen relations between the two countries.
The president travels accompanied by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Foreign Trade Minister Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz and Alba Soto Pimentel, Director of Europe at MINREX.
They will visit places of interest in this nation of just over 70,000 square kilometers, four million inhabitants and a high level of development based on industry (pharmaceutical and tourism among the most important) and agriculture.
The Cuban delegation departed Saturday afternoon and was saw off by the First Secretary of the Communist Party, Raul Castro. The trip will include, among others, a visit to Russia and the participation in the Non-Aligned Movement conference
