HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 24 (ACN) The US government has included in its list of sanctioned institutions four entities operating in the oil sector of the Venezuelan economy, as part of its aggressive policy against that South American nation and Cuba.
The companies punished this Tuesday are Caroil Transport Marine Ltd., based in Cyprus; Trocana World Inc., Tovase Development Corp and Bluelane Overseas SA, these three latter established in Panama, which the U.S. bans from having relations with Americans, blocking their possible assets in U.S. territory.
According to Prensa Latina, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department recognized four vessels transporting oil and its derivatives from Venezuela to Cuba, which are part of the condemned companies.
These actions by Donald Trump's administration, backed up by the entry into force of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, have the single purpose of choking the Cuban economy through the blockade of commercial partners and nations with which Cuba keeps close ties of exchange.
At the same time, the same measures affect the Venezuelan economy, restricting the crude oil exports to different regions of the world, an action that seeks to isolate President Nicolas Maduro's government, with the purpose of removing him from power.
The new action of the Treasury Department is just another attempt to curb the solidarity programs between Cuba and Venezuela, which have suffered the White House attack in recent times, one of the most important ones carried out to discredit the Cuban medical mission in that nation.
