HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 19 (acn) Anayansi Rodriguez, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, condemned on behalf of the Cuban government and people the last statements by Israel´s PM Benjamin Netanyahu of applying Israeli sovereignty to the Jordan Valley and northern Dead Sea in the occupied West Bank.
The Cuban diplomat said that this is another serious violation of International Law and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and threatens to stimulate a new escalation against the Palestinian people, nullifying the possibility of any international effort for peace.
According to Cubaminrex website, Rodriguez reiterated Cuban support for a comprehensive, fair and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause on the basis of the creation of two states, which allows Palestinians the right to self-determination and to have an independent and sovereign country on the borders prior to 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
She concluded with a call to the UN Security Council to fulfill the responsibility granted by the Charter of the organization in the maintenance of international peace and security.
