Havana, Sep 11 (ACN) The British Trade Union Confederation (TUC) ratified today its solidarity with Cuba in the face of growing hostility from the US and the tightening of the unilateral blockade imposed against Cuba, according to Prensa Latina.
In a resolution passed unanimously during the annual congress held in Brighton, southern England, the organization representing 50 workers' unions and almost six million workers considered the recent anti-Cuban actions of President Donald Trump's government as alarming.
The text specifically refers to the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, aimed at hindering foreign investment, and the decision to reduce family visits and remittances to Cuba.
The document entitled 'Cuba and the US blockade' recognizes, however, that despite these actions and a unilateral blockade of almost 60 years, Cuba currently exhibits world-renowned achievements in education, health, social security, humanitarianism and women's representation.
It also highlights the work of the Solidarity Campaign with Cuba in the UK, congratulates the Cuban people on the 60th anniversary of their Revolution and the Cuba´s Central Workers' Federation (CTC) on their 80th birthday, as well as committing to support the British-Cuban trade union conference, to be held next November.
