Pope Francis sends message to the IV International Conference For the Balance of the WorldHAVANA, Cuba, Jan 30 (ACN) Pope Francis sent a message to the participants in the IV International Conference for World Balance, which is being held in Havana until the next 31, in which he wished "that these days of work and reflection bear fruit of understanding and dialogue in the attainment of an increasingly fraternal civilization," reported the Vatican News portal.

On the occasion of the 166th anniversary of the birth of José Martí, the Conference was inaugurated on Monday 28th at the Conventions Center with the presence of more than 650 researchers, academics, representatives of political parties and social organizations and other personalities from 65 countries, to whom the Supreme Pontiff addressed to emphasize that due to the world situation, "in which the equilibrium of the current civilization is in danger, good men should unite and meet in events of this nature, in a framework of plurality, in order to achieve an authentic human promotion".
The Holy Father pointed out that the human environment and the natural environment go hand in hand and can be degraded together.
For this reason, the pontiff recalled what has already been said - during his pastoral visit to Cuba in September 2015 - that "a culture of encounter should be cultivated, especially among young people, through the promotion of a social friendship, which unites us in a common objective of promoting people".
In his message, Francisco encouraged the participants in the Conference to look for effective alternatives around the thought of José Martí, "a man of light", as defined by Saint John Paul II during his visit to Cuba in 1998.
Finally, he expressed his desire that the teachings "of this Cuban teacher and writer resonate within us and remind us, with his words, that 'all the trees of the earth will be concentrated in one, which will give in the eternal a very soft aroma: the tree of love, so robust and copious branches, that in his name all men will be sheltered smiling and in peace'" (Obras completas, vol. 5, 103).
Topics such as the importance of intercultural dialogue, the arts, diversity, the role and challenges of social movements, education and health as inalienable human rights and solidarity, the struggle for peace and the protection of the environment are debated in conferences, workshops, panels and other conclave activities.
