Cuba condemns U.S. government sanctions against Nicaragua

Cuba condemns U.S. government sanctions against NicaraguaHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 30 (ACN) Cuba condemned the measures taken by the U.S. government against Nicaragua, imposing sanctions on the vice president of that nation and the National Security Advisor.

Rogelio Sierra, deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, said in a press conference that these actions were conceived with the purpose of fomenting the destabilization of the country and causing suffering to the Nicaraguan people.

On Wednesday, the U.S. government issued an executive order with the objective of imposing sanctions on the institutions of the Central American country and on Rosario Murillo, vice president, and Néstor Moncada, National Security Advisor, under the accusations of corruption and human rights abuses

These actions are part of the traditional interventionist policy of the United States against this brother country, which once again expresses the will of that government to revive the Monroe Doctrine, said deputy Minister Sierra.

Cuba rejects the use of unilateral coercive measures and reiterates its invariable solidarity with the government, the Nicaraguan people, Commander Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, the diplomat added.
