HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 29 (acn) Rogelio Sierra, Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister, will head the Cuban delegation to attend the 49th Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) to be held in the Republic of Nauru from next September 3 to 6.
According to CubaMinrex website, the meeting is the main event in the Pacific region and brings together 14 small island states, as well as observers and dialogue partners, condition that Cuba has held since 2013.
The PIF is held annually and aims to arrange positions among independent countries of the Pacific Ocean on important issues such as economics and cooperation, as well as actions to mitigate the effects of climate change and prevent and reduce climate disasters.
The Cuban delegation will have the opportunity to exchange experiences about the common challenges it shares with those nations due to its status as a small island state, as well as hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of the region.
