Diaz-Canel sends message of solidarity to Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago after quakeHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 22 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed his deep solidarity with the Venezuelan government and people, after the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred Tuesday, 19 kilometers from the town of Yaguaraparo, Sucre State.

Granma newspaper reports today that the president made his message known through the Cuban Foreign Ministry's Twitter account, through which he also conveyed his solidarity to the government and people of Trinidad and Tobago, where the effects of the tremor were also felt.

In both messages, Díaz-Canel reiterated Cuba's willingness to help in everything that is within its reach and made the Island's collaborators available to both countries.

The earthquake occurred at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon and was also noticeable, according to statements by Venezuela's Minister of the People's Power for Internal Affairs, Justice and Peace, Nestor Reverol, in the states of Nueva Esparta, Sucre, Monagas, Bolivar, Delta Amacuro, Aragua, Carabobo and Distrito Capital, but no victims were reported by the end of the night.

The minister said that the responsible agencies are coordinating the process of assessing the situation, the possible damage caused and the needs for care that may arise.
