Bahamas Prioritizes Strengthening Relations with CubaARTEMISA, Cuba, Jun 11 (ACN) The ambassador of the Bahamas in Cuba, Andrew Brent Dean said on Monday in Havana that strengthening food trade is a priority for his country.

Brent Dean spoke with authorities of the Agriculture/Animal and Forest Company (GEAF) in Artemisa, learned on the characteristics of the province and the company and agricultural and animal cooperatives, and praised the variety and quality of the products.

Cuba and Bahamas are very close neighbors and it makes sense for two nations like ours to work together, said the diplomat.

The President of Girasol Overseas S.A., Luigi Crisci pointed out that his company will support GEAF in the production and financing of the agreement to be taken during the visit because they have been evaluating for a while the possibility of importing agricultural products from Artemisa to Bahamas.

According to Crisci, the premise is to send competitive products and due to the close geographic position of both nations, the products would arrive fresh.

The delegation from Bahamas was made by the President and Regional Director of Blue World Traveler, Lindbergh Smith, entity in charge of transportation.

GEAF was constituted on February 16th, 2011 with the objective of directing and controlling production, commercialization, logistics and services to the agricultural and animal products to contribute in satisfying the demand of the goods from Artemisa and Havana.
