HAVANA, Cuba, May 29 (acn) A day of solidarity with Cuba, which included political and cultural activities, took place in the district of Wieden, in Vienna, Austria, organized by the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (OKG by its German acronym).
The goal of these events, which were attended by hundreds of people, was to set out the solidarity work they do and attract new members, according to Prensa Latina news agency (PL by its Spanish acronym).
In a festive atmosphere, enlivened by Austrian musicians and Cuban residents, the participants received updated information about Cuba and spoke out against the blockade of almost six decades imposed by the United States on the Caribbean island.
The ceremony was attended by Elba Rosa Perez, Cuba´s Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, and Juan Antonio Fernandez, Ambassador of Cuba in Austria, who recognized OKG´s permanent work of solidarity.
Perez highlighted the importance of the support of the solidarity movement with Cuba to face the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States and other aggressions against her country.
Jessica Müller, OKG president, thanked the Minister and the Ambassador by their presence at the events and reiterated the historic support they have given to the Cuban Revolution.
OKG was founded in 1969 and since then it has accompanied the Cuban revolutionary process in all its actions, for which it carries out projects and donations and has affiliates in the regions of Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Carinthia, Salzburg and Graz.
