HAVANA, Cuba, May 4 (ACN) Namibian Vice President Nangolo Mbumba, paid tribute on Friday in Havana to Cuban internationalists that rest in the Pantheon of the Veterans of Independence of Colon Cemetery as part of his official visit to the island.
The Namibian official placed a floral wreath on the site where Cuban combatants lay to rest as part of the 40th anniversary of the Cassinga massacre, perpetrated on May 4th, 1978 by South African units.
The Namibian Vice President who arrived on Tuesday to Cuba will meet with government authorities and carry out other activities aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, according to the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
He participated on Friday in an official activity for the 40th anniversary of the Battle of Cassinga, where he spoke on behalf of the Namibian government and people.
The Namibian Vice President welcomed the Cuban ambassador last month, Giraldo Mazola where both spoke on the current state of bilateral ties, above all on the economic and commercial sectors.
