HAVANA, Cuba, May 2 (acn) The progress achieved during the last five years in the field of human rights will be presented by the Cuban delegation on May 16 at the universal periodic review that will take place in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to Prensa Latina news agency, this is a mechanism sponsored by the Human Rights Council, an UN body, to which Cuba was previously submitted on February 2009 and May 2013.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry will present a report including achievements on human rights and access to health, education, culture, food and information and communication technologies.
The document includes commitment in the fight against discrimination, promotion of gender equality and care for children, the elderly and people with disabilities.
It also includes details on the collaboration of Cuba with other countries of the world, with which it stands in solidarity with the goal of preserving the right to life and human well-being.
The universal review will allow Cuba to denounce once again the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by United States for 55 years on human rights.
