Cuba sends another 300 tons of aid to DominicaHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 26 (acn) Cuba's aid to Dominica after the passage of Hurricane Maria increased with the arrival on that island of a ship with 300 tons of merchandise, specialized medical personnel and brigades from the electric and forest industries.

Granma newspaper reports that since its arrival in Dominican soil last Friday, Cuban aid workers provide specialized medical assistance, work on the restoration of electric lines and the sanitation of the flora of the Roseau botanical garden, and other natural reserves.
Steven Duran, a specialist in the Dominican Forestry Division, told Granma that international cooperation is key to recover part of the island's biodiversity, seriously affected by the cyclone.
Granma highlighted the arrival of a ship from the Cuban Navy last Friday with food, clothing and essential items for those affected by the atmospheric phenomenon, which struck the Dominican territory on September 18.
Hurricane Maria hit the small Caribbean island with winds of more than 250 kilometers per hour, heavy rains and sea penetrations that devastated most of its housing and economic infrastructure.
This action reveals the altruism of Cubans, who came to offer their disinterested assistance in just few days of suffering the scourge of another hurricane, Irma, which affected Cuba for more than 72 hours, from the morning of September 8th to 10th.
