Havana, Cuba, Jun 22 (ACN) The President of the Cuban Parliament Esteban Lazo ended on Thursday an official visit to China after an intense working program that took him to Beijing and Shanghai and toured the central-eastern coastal region of Jiangsu.
According to Prensa Latina News Agency, Lazo was welcomed by Shi Heping, Deputy Director of the Permanent Committee of the People's Assembly in the province of Jiangsu and also the General Vice Secretary of the Communist Party of the Provincial Assembly.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the achievements of the province, one of the most developed of the Asian nation with a territorial extension of 100 thousand square kilometers and some 80 million inhabitants generating 6 percent of the Gross Domestic Product.
The two sides discussed that both nations constitute mutual references in the process in the construction of socialism with each's own characteristics and that Chinese province is an important source of experiences for the updating of the Cuban socio-economic model.
During a visit to the city of Suzhou, the Cuban delegation headed by the President of the Cuban National Assembly of the People's Power also learned about other cultural centers and economic interests, especially the Industrial Park, home to 65 thousand national and foreign companies of high technology.
With this program Lazo ended his agenda with the Cuban delegation which began their trip on June 18th, ratifying the excellent state of bilateral political ties.
The also member of the Political Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party was accompanied by the President of the Parliament's International Relations Commission, Yolanda Ferrer and the head of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Commission, Jose Luis Toledo.
Caridad Diego, member of the Cuban Parliament was also part of the delegation.
Lazo also met with several high ranking Chinese leaders to review strategies aimed at increasing cooperation between both Parliaments in addition to fomenting the good progress of the relations between the two countries.
