New Colombian Peace Accord Includes People´s ProposalsHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 28 (acn) The representatives of the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC-EP) guerrillas issued a joint communiqué Friday in Havana on their talks to achieve a new peace accord that considers the proposals of the Colombian people after a first accord was not approved in a national plebiscite.

The chief negotiator for the Juan Manuel Santos government, Humberto de La Calle said that they have worked tirelessly to achieve the new accord. "We have considered proposals for adjustment of the document and these proposals are now under discussion carefully as many of them are being introduced to the new accord."

Guerrilla commander Ivan Marquez said that President Santos has all necessary constitutional powers to have the accord implemented and in for that reason they ask him to act in order not to put peace at risk.

"We have registered in a positive way that this discussion as a whole is possible thanks to the fact that peace is the essential core of citizens´ reflection and having in mind that the president has powers to go ahead with the peace we trust in his action to do so with this national endeavor."

The two sides thanked the support of the accord by Colombian people and the expressions in favor of peace, which has been present in several cities of the South American country.
