HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 19 (acn) Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will pay an official visit to Cuba after his participation at the United Nations General Assembly Session this week.
This will be the first time that a Japanese premier will visit the island. During his stay here, Abe will hold official talks with President Raul Castro.
The top government Japanese official will reportedly support the strengthening of bilateral economic relations with Cuba.
At the UN General Assembly, Abe is expected to focus on the current situation on the Korean Peninsula, according to NHK agency. The Premier is also scheduled to attend a UN forum on refugees and migrants and a high-level Security Council meeting on Syria.
