HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 2 (acn) The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) strongly condemned the coup against the legitimate President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff.
A statement issued from Budapest, Hungary, where the Bureau Coordinator of WFDY is based, stresses that the decision to impeach the President contradicts the sovereign will of the 54 million Brazilians who elected her, and was adopted despite not having presented any evidence of corruption offenses or crimes of responsibility.
Further it notes that this blow to Brazilian democracy is part of the offensive of imperialism against Latin American and Caribbean integration and progressive processes in the region.
The Imperialism, along with sections of the right and the reactionary press, thus are trying to put an end to more than a decade of social gains and discredit the governance of the Workers Party, to benefit the people, emphasizes the document.
The statement supports resounding Brazilian youth organizations, members of WFDY, which now struggling valiantly to defend the constitutionality, legitimacy and popular will, and solidarity with the people of the South American giant in its claim to respect so democracy.
In addition, the World Federation of Democratic Youth calls all its member organizations to take action to reject the parliamentary coup in Brazil and to express in all possible ways their solidarity in defense and respect for the democratic rights of the Brazilian people.
