HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 19 (acn) Mohammad Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, will arrive in Cuba on Sunday on an official visit, the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Cubaminrex) reported.
According to Prensa Latina, Cuba's embassy in Tehran said Zarif will travel with a delegation composed of government officials and state and private entrepreneurs.
The Persian Minister will meet with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez. During the meeting, they will review the state of bilateral ties.
During his stay on the island, the signing of agreements is expected, reads the note by the embassy, reminding that the trip of the head of Iran's diplomacy will take place after the recent visit to Tehran of the Vice-president of the Cuban Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas.
Cabrisas, also Minister of Economy and Planning, visited the Islamic Republic as a special envoy of Army General Raul Castro, President of the Cuban councils of State and Ministers, and was received by the Iranian head of state, Hassan Rouhani.
Zarif will begin on August 21 in Havana a Latin American tour that will include Nicaragua, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia and Venezuela with the aim of opening a new chapter in relations between Iran and Latin America, and will be accompanied by 60 political and business representatives.
