HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 22 (acn) The Executive Director of UN Women organization, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will pay a visit to Cuba on Saturday to attend the Colombian Peace Talks and to meet with high-level Cuban government officials.
According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the UN-Women official will attend the closing ceremony on July 24 of the sub-commission on gender, an issue addressed by the peace talks between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces rebel organization, in Havana.
Mlambo-Ngcuka is being accompanied by the special envoy of UN secretary general for Sexual Violence in Armed Conflicts, Zainab Bangura and by the UN-Women regional director for The Americas and the Caribbean, Luiza Carvalho.
The event will also be attended by members of Colombian social organizations, including the LGBTI community.
